Bringing in your dog for training can be scary. Below You can find frequently asked questions and get to know our trainer as well!
Hi! My name is Kati Thom. I am the lead dog trainer at Sheyenne River Kennels, I have been training for about four years now and I am more than excited to meet you and your dog and help you with all your training goals! I have worked with many different breeds and sizes of dogs. From basic obedience to major behavioral modification. I personally have three dogs. Arlo (Golden retriever), Otto (working line German Shepherd), and Striker (field line Labrador retriever). I enjoy doing many different activities with my dogs such as hiking, hunting, protection work, dock diving, agility, and so much more.
Ready to start your training journey but have no idea where to start? The first step would be to set up an evaluation with our trainer. An evaluation is completely FREE to you, and it gives you a chance to get to know Kati. The evaluation could take up to 30 minutes and this is where we would go over all of your expectations and goals for you and your pup! You can call or email us to book or you can book online through our Gingr app.
Where does my dog stay during the day?
Your dog stays in our Ruffland brand kennels that are very safe kennels that are very hard to break out of. If your dog has human aggression or does not like other people, we have guillotine kennel that go to your dog's own outside run until our trainer is able to make enough progress to move them into a Ruffland kennel.
What do I need to bring for my dog?
The only thing you would need to bring for your dog would be the food that they are currently eating and if they are on any medications. We will provide all the toys, treats, and leashes that would need to be used during the training.
How long does my dog spend in the kennel?
Your dog goes in and out of the kennel all day long. Our trainer takes about six dogs a day and she cycle through all of them as the day goes on. They get 10–15-minute sessions, and then they go back in their kennel to rest for the next session is about 30 minutes.
